Jennifer Blake: Weekend Wrap-up

Weekend Wrap-up

November 7, 2011

This weekend was super busy, I mean typically every weekend has been busy lately, but this one was beyond the normal busy. Friday was filled with school and homework, but it followed by an lovely evening of baking and playing cards with Aaron. One of my favorite things to do after a long week is bake...so I gathered everything we had in the kitchen and tried to figure out what I could make!

First I made THESE. But rather than flattening them I took them out of the oven and placed a Hershey kiss in each, then immediately put them in the fridge to set.

Then I whipped up THIS delicious snack.

I also made some delicious taco dip, but we ate that too fast to get any pictures. After I finished baking, Aaron and I picked up the apartment, read and went to bed. It was a rather early night for us because we both had to be up at 6 for Saturdays festivities. Aaron had a school thing, but I was heading out with two of my best friends and my mom and her friend to go DRESS SHOPPING! I was so excited I am not even sure I slept much...and guess what ladies and gents...I said...
YES to a dress!!! We went to some places a little while ago, but this time we went to two places and I was sure that I had found my dress after the first place, but then I fell in love with a dress and it certainly has the wow factor I was going for! I am so excited and wish I could share the picture with everyone, but Aaron occasionally pop's on in here to read what I have to say. I refuse to talk sometimes in hopes that he will figure out what is going through my head and what I am thinking by coming to read my blog ;)
Anywho, I was more then excited. We followed up dress shopping by having lunch at Margarita's. I got dropped back off in Boston and Aaron and I had friends over that night. We ate food, had some delicious banana bread beer and played a fun game called Catan. It's not everyones cup of tea, but once you get used to the game, it becomes a lot of fun.
On Sunday Aaron and I took a nice stroll into Brookline, our favorite little town. (Not the best picture but hey they can't all be done by a professional!)
Aaron treated me to Starbucks, they finally brought back my all time favorite latte- Peppermint Mocha! Ahh it so delicious.
When we got back I was determined to attempt one project off of my to do list this weekend. We had another friend coming over in the afternoon so I knew I had to get started and work speedy. I bought a cheap glass jar at TJMaxx ($3.00), and I used some armor etch to write a 'thanks' on it. I was hoping that it would come out perfectly, but hey the first time never comes out the best. The goal was to get it looking nice enough to use. Aaron and I write something we are thankful for on a little piece of paper each day for the month of November and pop it in the jar, then at the end of the month we can read each others and laugh and reminisce about everything we are thankful for. It's a good way to remember everything we have going for us and everything we are really thankful for! I wish I could take credit for the wonderful idea BUT I got the idea from HERE.

Some things I learned while doing this:
- The bottle says let it sit once painted on for five minutes, I suggest 15 minutes.
- Use a smaller knife to cut out letters, a big exacto knife like mine was a little hard to handle.
- Make sure you have a thick coat of the cream on
- Remember first time is a learning experience, it probably wont come out perfect, and if you are rushed for time like I was it would probably come out better if you slowed down and had more time.

I also told Aaron I would give him credit for his lovely photography skills why I did a little DIY. So THANK YOU Aaron :)

We hung out the rest of the day and got to relax at night, it was a lovely Sunday evening curled up on the couch watching TV and reading. I started Ellen Degeneres new book, "Seriously...I'm Kidding" I actually read it in two days- it's absolutely hysterical and inspirational, I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good laugh!
Also  how much did you love the time change, I loved changing the clocks and getting more sleep-I seem to still be adjusting to the change though!

What did everyone else do this weekend? Tackle any items on the to do list? Go anywhere fun? Read any good books or have suggestions of books I should check out!?
