Meet Anna from Dear Friend!

Age: 28
My blog, Dear Friend, is a place where I write about the everyday; the little things, big things, and the in-between things I don’t want to forget. I’m big on memories and pictures. I write a lot about Boston and family and friends. There’s a little bit of everything happening on my blog, but mostly, I just write about things that make me happy.

Top three personal dreams you have and how you hope to reach them?

1. To live this life to the fullest

For me this means getting out as much as possible, trying new restaurants and recipes, making time for old friends and putting forth the effort to make new ones, appreciating my job that I love, and being true to myself. I want to be kind to everyone I meet, to take care of myself physically and emotionally, and live in the present each and every day.

2. To travel.

I have seen some of the world, and I am yearning to see more. I want to go everywhere. I have places on my list to visit in the US (San Francisco, Seattle, Colorado, and Hawaii) and then I also want to visit abroad. I want to travel to Greece and France, to return to London, Venice, and Ireland, and someday I will make it to New Zealand!

3. A family to call my own.

I want a long and happy marriage. I want a small house with a yard and lots of windows for the sunshine to stream through. And I want children, two preferably, to cuddle and kiss and laugh with. I want to love my family with all my being and find happiness in each little memory and each little milestone.

What is the inspiration behind your dreams?
My family. My dad is a huge source of inspiration for me. You can read about his story here. And my mom and sister have been amazing inspirations as well. My family has never been rich, but we have been filled with a wealth of love and appreciation for the things that we do have, and that has been very meaningful to me throughout my life. More than anything I want to follow those people that spread kindness and love and to always remember to be thankful for everything I have and do, the little things and the big things, the lazy weekends and the trips to see the world. And most importantly, to remember to make time for the people I love. My parents have always had the biggest hearts, and it’s made me into the person I am today and the person I want to be.

Best advice for someone trying to reach his or her dreams.
Be yourself. Take risks. But most of all, remember what’s important to your heart.

Favorite Quote
Oh my! I’ve got a whole book of favorite quotes, but I’ll leave you with three of my very favorites:

“For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or ...the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”
–Benjamin Button, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

“Be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars; to be satisfied with your possessions, but not contented with yourself until you have made the best of them; to despise nothing in the world except falsehood and meanness, and to fear nothing except cowardice; to be governed by your admirations rather than by your disgusts; to covet nothing that is your neighbor’s except his kindness of heart and gentleness of manners; to think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends. These are little guideposts on the footpath to peace.“
-Henry Van Dyke

“I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well."

  1. Just as lovely as I expected it to be! Your writing style always makes my heart warm...wow, and just realized Jenn said the same thing. It's true!

Also love that first quote. There's always this pressure to Get Things Done while we're young...and we forget that the huge majority of our lives happens after that.
