Jennifer Blake: Current Reads.

Current Reads.

September 19, 2013

I have been pretty good about making sure I make time for personal reading, sometimes school gets in the way, but I have made a big effort to try and at least read before bed each night...

Here is what I have just finished reading...
What I am currently reading...
And what is next on my list...
Just finished...

Divergent: I love this book. I actually will admit I loved it more than The Hunger Games. I was sucked in from page one and I am happy I finished it well before the movie comes out! If you like young adult dystopia type books and you have not read this, I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Bread & Wine: This one took me a little longer to get through. Not because it wasn't good, but because there are certain times it is meant to be read, like in a bubble bath with a glass of wine or early in the morning while you are wrapped up under a warm blanket and are enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Her words are magic. Her stories are a gift. I cried and laughed through the entire book. It felt like I was listening to a friend. I have already cooked 3 of the recipes from the book, they are nothing short of delicious!

Currently reading...

Casual Vacancy: Aaron and I wanted to read this at the same time, so we have been switching off nights reading it. We received it as a gift for Christmas and we have attempted once before to read it. I am giving it a second chance, I can't say I am in love with it yet but maybe I will get there? Or hopefully I will get interested in it enough to keep going? Have you read it? What do you think?

Zen and the Art of Happiness: I picked up this book when we went on our road trip for our honeymoon. I had my eye on it for a while. It seemed short, fun and interesting. I just started it a few nights ago and I am cruising. The concept and ideas in it are fabulous. I would highly recommend it.

Next up...

The Introvert's Way: I read an article by this author on the Huffington Post and I loved her thoughts on being an introvert. I immediately Goolged her to see if she had written anything else and sure enough this book came up. I found it a few days later at a used book store! I am excited to read it!

What are you reading?

  5. I enjoyed Divergent but The Casual Vacancy not so much. I really wanted to like it and I liked seeing a lot of her thoughts come through in that story but mostly I couldn't relate to the characters, feel for them and sometimes just felt bored with the story.
