Jennifer Blake: Marathon Bound.

Marathon Bound.

January 9, 2014

I ran my first half marathon a few years ago and since then I have not done too much in the running realm. I decided once we moved to a nicer area, an area with sidewalks, and an area that has a nice running community I would jump back on the bandwagon. Having my dad and other running friends close by helps too. I started training last Sunday, the temperatures were freezing, the sidewalks were covered in snow and I realized just how out of shape I truly am. After my run every muscle in my body hurt, things I didn't even know that could hurt, hurt.

So my goal? A marathon. Yep, I am hoping to train for a Fall marathon, hopefully the Chicago Marathon! I will be following a training plan and working on strength training, I will be posting my journey on Instagram and occasionally on the blog. I am excited, nervous, overwhelmed all rolled up into one. It is a large time commitment and something I need to keep motivating myself to do. Sometimes when it is -6 outside my motivation flies out the window, I just need to learn to push through and not beat myself up when I have to switch a run day or change around my schedule. It will be a balance of give and take, along with listening to my body.

Are you working towards a fitness goal right now?

  2. This is awesome! I can't remember the last time I ran over 3.5 miles. I recently picked up hot yoga (I love it!) and I'm starting to feel stronger. I'm hoping to pick running back up when it's warmer out this spring.

  3. I tried hot yoga, I couldn't get into it! We just moved and there is a hot yoga studio across the street so I may have to try it again!

  4. I am so not ready either, but it has always been a goal, so I'm just going to go for it!
