Jennifer Blake: Project 4/ Menu Board

Project 4/ Menu Board

March 6, 2014

I am tackling some DIY projects in hopes to finish 24 projects before I turn 25, and my deadline is creeping up slowly. I better get my act together!

Here is my latest project! A magnetic chalkboard for our weekly menu.

I took a cookie sheet and painted it with chalkboard paint, three coats did the trick! Next, I tested out my magnets, which did NOT stick, so I tried a coat of magnetic paint. Well, that didn't work either. I decided to buy magnet sheets that were sticky on one side, they hold the grocery list and there is a strip on the bottom right corner for putting up notes. Those mini clothes pins say different things like to-do, urgent, tomorrow and today. They stick to the magnetic sheets and can hold our little notes! I decided to add a small piece of cork to tack notes to as well. I used a chalk marker for the days and boxes, and regular white chalk to write our menu each week.

The whole project cost under $15 and looks cute hanging in our kitchen!

Do you menu plan? Or have a system in place for dinners each week?
