Jennifer Blake: A Love/Hate Relationship with New England

A Love/Hate Relationship with New England

January 24, 2017

Remember this post where I talked about my love/hate relationship with winter? Well I thought I would expand on my love/hate for New England!

Dear New England,

I have a love/hate relationship with you and everything you bring.
I hate the snow.
I love curling up under a blanket with a hot cup of tea and watching the snow fall from the inside.
I hate being cold.
I love how the snow lays a gorgeous white blanket over our town, even if it only lasts for a split second.
I hate the high property taxes.
I love the cute quaint New England towns.
I hate the beach traffic and traffic going to Maine in the summer.
I love how there are so many back roads that can take you away from all the people.
I hate that everyone thinks our sports teams cheat or lie or don't win fairly.
I love being a New England sports fan, specifically football. The Patriots are one of my favorite things about being from New England. Oh did I mention we are Superbowl bound, baby!
I hate the unpredictable weather.
I love that we have 4 distinct seasons.

I grew up here and we plan to stay for a while. As much I hate to love it and love to hate it, it will always be home.

What do you love/hate about your home town?
