Jennifer Blake: One Little Word, 2017.

One Little Word, 2017.

January 2, 2017

Happy New Year, friends!

2016 came and went in the blink of an eye. I am sure 2017 will feel the same, but I plan to make the most of each and every day! Each year I join millions of others in picking one word to represent the year, a word I want to focus on, a word that will help me grow and learn throughout different areas of my life. Ali Edwards, one of my favorite scrapbookers and storytellers even offers an online class for it.

Last year I chose nourish, I didn't blog about it at all (whoops!), but I did finally realize what it means to nourish our body with wholesome nourishment and non-toxic products (thanks, Arbonne!), I spent time nourishing my mind by reading, taking a few online classes, and tuning into the world around me. I spent a lot of time hustlin' to grow and nourish my blog, photography and career. I also spent a lot of time nourishing personal relationships, cutting out those who drain me and focusing on those who love and support me.

2016 was good, but 2017 will be even better.

For 2017, I am choosing the word balance
I stumbled across this description of balance and I love it, this definition is the reason I decided to pick it for 2017.

"Balance comes in the moments when you stand up for the life you truly want for yourself, by making choices that align with that."

There are too many times where life pulls us in a million directions and so the things we may strive for and want get put on the back burner, we tend to sacrifice ourselves, our health, and our time to try and do it all and please everyone. You can't be your best self though if you aren't taking care of yourself and making yourself a priority. It is all about balance.

So my goal for 2017? To learn what balance really means.
